Chief Accounting Officer

Our Client is a Leading International Insurance Company, has appointed us to seek on its behalf Chief Accounting Officer

Location

Milan

Major Responsibilities

The local Chief Accounting Officer will provide accurate and timely financial statements that comply with applicable laws and GAAP for Chartis, its business lines and respective regional territories, including: preparing U.S. GAAP reporting for Chartis consolidation, including preparation of Analytical review for discussion; providing internal and external financial reporting and regulatory Support for local GAAP, statutory and regulatory returns that reconcile to U.S. GAAP; implementing consistent accounting policies and procedures (at an operational level) across the Country operation; ensure a timely and accurate financial statement quarterly and annual close and thorough understanding and high-quality financial analysis of results on the balance sheet and income statement; and manage a close working relationship with the external auditors.

Reporting

The Chief Accounting Officer will report to the local Finance Manager and on a dotted line to the Regional Chief Accounting Officer.

Ideal Experience

  • 7 to 10 years in a “Big 4” accounting firm and corporate or business finance role in a complex, multinational publicly-traded corporation with a well regarded finance and accounting organization;
  • Experience working in a financial services firm, preferably insurance;
  • Operational experience with U.S. GAAP, IFRS and Sarbanes Oxley reporting and compliance issues ;
  • Fluent in English and another European language;
  • Local CPA required.

Critical Competencies for Success:

  • Financial Acumen and Technical Skills: A Senior, with a strong understanding of  accounting rules (possibly US Gaap), SOX regulations, public company policy and procedure, who can help better aligning corporate, regional and country objectives by ensuring the maintenance of strong internal controls and bringing best practices, policies and procedures to the organization.
  • Managerial Leadership/Building Skills:  Work with business units, lead people on a local level. Ability to effectively interact with HQ Paris and HO management. Ability to work under pressure and deliver high quality results.
  • Executive Presence:  Strong communications skills and leadership qualities that would enable this person to potentially advance beyond his/her initial position.
